Unable to Change My cRIO Target to Active Mode When Using EtherCAT Slaves

Issue Details

I have a cRIO-9082 that acts as an EtherCAT master for my NI-9144. When I try to set the active mode on my cRIO (right-click over the target»Utilities»Scan Engine Mode»Switch to Active Mode) I get the following error:

How can I fix this?

Solution

This issue can be solved by upgrading the firmware in the slave device. For instance, for the NI-9144 follow the How to Upgrade Your Firmware section in the NI-9144 manual.
