This article guides in configuring external IRIG B source in BTI XML Editor shipped by Ballard Technologies. Once configured, the external IRIG B source signal is synchronized with PXI ARINC 429 module's IRIG B timer. Prerequisite Knowledge:

      1. LabVIEW
      2. BTIDriver™ LabVIEW APIs
      3. BTI XML Editor

The configuration steps are as follows:

      1. Connect the external IRIB B source to Core B Pin 17 of PXI ARINC 429 Interface Module to use AM IRIG timing protocol.IRIG Pinout.PNG
      2. Open BTI XML Editor Application.
      3. Click on the New 429 Configuration box.

      1. Click coreConfiguration>>timing tree.
      CoreConfigurationtiming
      1. Select the highlighted timing properties as shown in the image below.

      1. Save the configuration as the core configuration.xml at C:\Program Files(x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 20XX\examples\Astronics Ballard Technology\BTI429Lib\Example 12 - Transmit and Receive with IRIG Time location.
      2. Navigate to the file path mentioned in step 6 and open Transmit and Receive with IRIG Time.vi
      3. Enter the saved core configuration.xml file name in Core XML Configuration File Name control in front panel.
      4. Check core B's handle is configured in Get IRIG Time.vi function to ensure the appropriate IRIG time is displayed.
      5. Run the VI.

After configuring the IRIG timing properties and running the example code, synchronization of external IRIG B source to PXI ARINC 429 Module's IRIG timer is achieved. Synchronization can be verified by matching the IRIG time stamp object in the front panel of the Transmit and Receive with IRIG Time.vi to the external IRIG time.
