Error 1: Missing "deployment\files.json" in NI Package Builder

Issue Details

  • I can't build my installer/repository using the NI Package Builder tool because I got a message related to missing dependencies. 
  • How can I fix the files.json dependencies in NI Package Builder shown in the following screen capture:

             The build was unsuccessful.
              Possible reasons
             
              NI Package Manager returned an error when
              creating Package Installer:
              Cannot open file handle for path 'C:\Program
              Files\National Instruments\NI Package Manager\Deployment\files.json'.

Solution

The following are troubleshooting steps that have successfully fixed the issue:
  • Select the correct bitness for the tool according to the packages included. 
  • Run the tool using administrator rights. 
  • Uninstall/Reinstall both NI Package Manager and NI Package Builder.
  • Check manually for the missing file on the directory C:\Program Files\National Instruments\NI Package Manager\Deployment\files.json and if it is missing contact the support team requesting the missing files.
