TestStand Executable Will Not Run Headless With Atlassian Bamboo

Issue Details

Atlassian Bamboo is a continuous integration and deployment tool that can be used to start/launch TestStand remotely/headless. If the remote computer is locked or not logged in, TestStand will not start remotely. This article details a fix applied to Windows settings as tested with TestStand 2017 SP1 or later.

This process may also be applicable if unable to launch TestStand remotely in general.

Solution

  1. Open the Run Window (Win + R).
  2. Type dcomcnfg and press enter.

  3. Navigate to Component Services»Computers»My Computer»DCOM Config»NI TestStand AutoMgr.

  4. Right click NI TestStand AutoMgr and select Properties.

  5. In the Identity tab, change the option from  The User Account to The launching user.

Additional Information

Some NI software may default to the Interactive User option or experience issues such as this known issue in older versions of TestStand.
