Solution

This error might be occurring because the LabVIEW Data folder is pointing to a network server or a location that the computer does not have access to when trying to edit or create an icon.

To fix this error follow these steps:
  1. Open LabVIEW and go to Tools >> Options... >> Paths.
  2. Click on the dropdown list and click on Default Data Directory*, unselect the Use default checkbox and select a new path by clicking on Browse...
  3. Once you are able to change the path for the new local folder, click on Replace and then OK.
  4. Close LabVIEW and reopen it, now you should be able to use the LabVIEW Icon Editor.
