Activating LabVIEW Application Builder

Updated Apr 17, 2023

  • LabVIEW Application Builder Module
  • NI License Manager
  • LabVIEW

You have purchased and installed the Application Builder Module for LabVIEW. How do you activate it so you can begin using it?

This article will guide you through the activation process of the Application Builder Module when associated with the Base or Full editions of LabVIEW. With the Professional edition of LabVIEW, the Application Builder is included, meaning no separate activation is required. Activating the LabVIEW Professional Development System automatically activates the Application Builder.

Complete the following steps to activate the LabVIEW Application Builder Module:

  1. Make sure you have the LabVIEW Development System installed and activated (Base or Full license).
  • Note: LabVIEW Application Builder (and other LabVIEW modules) are LabVIEW version-specific and will show up under the LabVIEW version that matches the module version installed. If you have multiple versions of LabVIEW, check the version of Application Builder you installed to determine where the add-on will show up within License Manager. If LabVIEW is already installed and you do not see the Application Builder listed, try repairing LabVIEW by following the steps in this article: Repair Software In NI Package Manager (NIPM).
  1. Depending on your situation, select the appropriate activation procedure from the License Setup and Activation page. For instance, if you are using a single-seat license, you will have to follow the instructions given in the Activating NI Software with a Single-Seat License article.

Additional Information

  • You must have the same versions of LabVIEW and Application Builder, and LabVIEW must be installed before you can use Application Builder.
  • The Application Builder Module is included with the LabVIEW download package common to the Base, Full, and Professional editions. However, only a LabVIEW Professional license will activate the module without requiring the purchase of a separate license for the Application Builder.
  • If you have LabVIEW Base or Full and purchased the LabVIEW Application Builder Module separately, you will have two unique serial numbers. One will activate LabVIEW, while the other will activate the Application Builder.
  • It may be necessary to wait for 2 to 3 minutes for the activation to go through. It sometimes takes additional time for the system to process and activate your licensing.
