Activating LabVIEW Application Builder

Updated Apr 28, 2026

Environment

Software

  • LabVIEW Application Builder Module
  • NI License Manager
  • LabVIEW

This guide explains how to obtain and activate the Application Builder Module for building LabVIEW applications.

Depending on your LabVIEW edition, the Application Builder Module may need to be activated separately. Please identify your LabVIEW edition below and proceed accordingly:

  • LabVIEW Professional: The LabVIEW Professional edition includes multiple components and toolkits, including the Application Builder Module. If you are using this edition, you do not need to purchase the module separately or activate it individually. The Application Builder Module will activate automatically once your LabVIEW Professional license is activated.

NI offers a variety of LabVIEW editions, which you can review here. The comparison table provides an overview of the differences between each edition. If you are using the Base or Full edition, you also have the option to upgrade your LabVIEW edition if desired.

There are additional considerations to keep in mind when setting up the Application Builder Module for the first time, which are outlined below.

Additional Information

  • You must have matching versions of LabVIEW and the Application Builder Module, and LabVIEW must be installed before you can use the Application Builder. Similar to LabVIEW, multiple versions of the Application Builder Module can be installed on the same computer if needed.
  • The LabVIEW Base, Full, and Professional installers all include the Application Builder Module installer.
  • Please note that activation may take a few minutes to complete. In some cases, it can take up to two or three minutes for the system to process and successfully activate your license.
