To open the NI Example finder, navigate to the menu bar and click
Help » Find Examples. The NI Example finder window will now open, from here you will be able to access the different example VI's available.
There are different methods you can undertake in order to find the example VI's relevant to your needs. The first method would be to browse examples based on the
task or
directory.
Go to
Hardware Input and Output and look for the examples depending of the driver used by your hardware. For example, if you have a Multifunction I/O module, look into the NI-DAQmx folder. This is the recommended method to look for examples.
If you have a general idea of what example you need, you can also find examples using keywords by using the search tab. In the example below, the keyword "DAQ" is used, and the result is examples that match the search criteria.
Finally, if you are looking for examples that will work with any NI hardware you have connected. The functionality to do this is available on the bottom left of the example finder window. The example below has chosen to find examples for a cRIO-9049.
After selecting the hardware that you have connected, check
Limit results to hardware to display all examples that are compatible with your selected NI hardware.
Make sure to create a copy of the example VI that you have used by saving the example under a new name to avoid overwriting the original example VI's.
Some examples won't be listed in the NI Example Finder. For example, NI-USRP example applications are only accessible by opening from the following locations:
- From the Start menu at Start » All Programs » National Instruments » NI-USRP»Examples.
- From the LabVIEW Functions palette at Instrument I/O » Instrument Drivers » NI-USRP»Examples.
You can also find examples on the NI website by accessing
ni.com/examples.
