  • Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX)

  • I believe my database in NI Measurement & Automation Explorer (NI MAX) may be corrupted and I would like to reset my NI MAX Configuration Data, but I am unable to open NI MAX.  How can I reset my NI MAX Configuration Data without opening NI MAX?
  • When attempting to open NI MAX, the splash screen gets stuck on "Initializing", how can I resolve this?
  • When I open NI MAX, it takes a long time to open and my devices are not visible. Doing anything within NI MAX takes a long time, is there any way to fix this without going through NI MAX?

Version 5.0 and higher of NI MAX provide a stand-alone executable which will reset the NI MAX Configuration Data on the system. The executable can be found in the Shared  folder of your National Instruments installation path. The most common paths for this executable are:

C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Shared\Reset NI Config\ResetNIConfig.exe

or:

C:\Program Files(x86)\National Instruments\Shared\Reset NI Config\ResetNIConfig.exe

Navigate to this directory and launch the executable.  If you are sure that you would like to reset the Configuration Data, select Yes and restart your machine.
