Error -The "NI-DAQmx MIO Device Drivers for 64 bit Windows 2.8.5" Installation Has Failed

Updated Dec 28, 2023

Issue Details

I have a new system on which I would like to install LabVIEW and the compatible DAQmx drivers. I am using the LabVIEW online/offline installer with the driver software included. After beginning the installation I observe that the LabVIEW installation gets completed successfully without any errors but during the DAQmx installation I see the below error popup in between:

Error -The "NI-DAQmx MIO Device Drivers for 64 Bit Windows 2.8.5" installation has failed with the following error:

There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.

If I select 'Yes' for 'Continue?' the installation gets completed but I am unable to detect my DAQ device in NI-MAX.

Solution

This issue is often related to the antivirus software running on your PC. If you have an antivirus software running on your PC, kindly perform the below steps to resolve this issue:
  1. Un-install NI-DAQmx driver using NI Package Manager.
  2. Delete the NI-DAQ folder from below paths:
    1. C:\Program Files\National Instruments\NI-DAQ
    2. C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\NI-DAQ
  3. Disable the active antivirus software. If possible, remove the antivirus software.
  4. Download the LabVIEW compatible DAQmx drivers from the NI website and install the drivers as an administrator. Re-boot your system once the installation is finished.
  5. Now you can enable/re-install the antivirus software.
