Activate NI Software Without Internet Connection

  • How can I activate my software if my computer is offline?
  • I can't login to my account when the NI proxy login pops up. Can I still activate my products without signing in?
  • When I open the software, the NI License Manager tries to connect to the internet, but fails and gives me the following error at the top of the Licensing Wizard screen: Could not connect to It then asks me for a 20 character activation code. This computer is an offline computer. How can I activate my software?

Single-Seat Licenses

For single-seat licenses, you can activate your NI software offline using 20-digit activation codes by following the steps below:
  1. Obtain the unique computer ID, serial number, and version of software installed on the computer. Note that the 20-digit activation codes are unique to the corresponding version of the software (e.g. LabVIEW 2020, LabVIEW 2020 SP1).
  2. Visit the NI Product Activation page on another computer. Fill out the fields on this page with the information corresponding to the offline computer and it will provide you with an activation code for use with that machine. 
    • You will need a separate activation code for each software product you would like to activate.
    • If you do not have internet access on another computer, contact NI Support to request an activation code.
  3. Once you have obtained the activation code(s) for your product(s), open NI License Manager and click Activate Products, as shown below:
  1. Close the proxy login popup, or disconnect your system from the network if that doesn't work.
  1. Enter your activation code and click Apply Codes.

Additional Information

If you or your organization has a volume license agreement with NI and you would like to apply it to an offline computer, follow the instructions on how to install a disconnected license. You will need to contact the software administrator at your company to do this.
