Activate NI Software Without Internet Connection

This article is intended to show you how to activate software for offline machines There are two main scenarios, one for Volume License Agreement users and another for Single Seat license users.

Volume License Server User:

If you are part of a Volume License Agreement and need to activate software on an offline machine, follow the instructions in the guide: Using a disconnected License provided by VLM

Single Seat Activation:

You may fill up the Offline Activation Code Generator with the required information. You will then be sent an automatic email containing the activation code along with detailed activation instructions.

To fill out this form, you must have the following details first:

• Full Name, email address, and Company Name
• Your Serial Number.
• Your Computer ID.
• The specific version for the software you're trying to activate

Keep in mind:

• Activation codes are unique to the specific software version and the generated computer ID.
• A separate activation code is required for each software product you wish to activate.
• If you're unable to generate an activation code, please contact NI Support.

You may follow the steps below once being provisioned with an activation code:

Using the NI Licensing Manager 

For NI License Manager 4.7 or newer:

1. Open the software you would like to activate (e.g. LabVIEW).  If it is not licensed yet, it will launch the NI Licensing Wizard.
2. If you have not logged in before, you will be prompted to log in for activation. You can dismiss that by clicking on No internet connection? Continue with offline activation.

3. Enter your Activation Code(s) and click on Activate.

4. If your software activation was successful, you should see a window similar to the following image. Click on Finish.

For NI License Manager 4.6 or earlier:

1. Open the software you would like to activate (e.g. LabVIEW).  Click on the 'X' to dismiss the login prompt.

NOTE: For legacy NI License Manager versions, you must disconnect your machine from the network entirely (that includes Local Area Networks) so that you can enable the offline activation window.

3. If the activation was successful, you'd see a message like the one below. Click on Next to finish activating.
