Acquiring Data Faster Than ADC Conversion Time

Issue Details

I have a PXIe R Series card with a conversion time of 1 microsecond, however I need to acquire data every 0.5 microseconds. I am requesting data from the analog inputs using VIs running on the FPGA which are hardware timed, but am still getting 1 microsecond for the time required. How can I increase the data acquisition speed? 

Solution

Unfortunately, there is no way to increase the acquisition speed in this case, since it is faster than the conversion time.  This is a hardware limitation of the analog to digital converter (ADC) and cannot be adjusted by software.

Additional Information

Conversion time is the time necessary for a signal to be stable for the ADC to get a quality reading on the signal.  For more information on Conversion Time, refer to the Specifications Explained: R Series document.
