Issue Details

I would like to do octave analysis on my previously acquired sound or vibration data in LabVIEW using the SVT Fractional-octave Analysis VI or the SVT Third-octave Analysis VI or the SVT Octave Analysis VI each found in the LabVIEW Sound and Vibration Toolkit. I would like to get the power for each frequency band on a linear scale, not in dB. In a specific case I acquire acceleration data in m/s^2, so then I need the power values to be calculated in (m/s^2)^2. How is it possible to do that?

Solution

Set the dB On input parameter of the SVT Fractional-octave Analysis VI or of the SVT Third-octave Analysis VI or of the SVT Octave Analysis VI to FALSE to get a linear output. If the acquired data is in a specific EU (Engineering Unit), like m/s^2 or Pa, the power associated with each 1/n octave band will be expressed in EU^2, i.e. in (m/s^2)^2 or in Pa^2.
