Issue Details

I have PXIe-6570 Digital Pattern Generator which can create .digipat format files. I want to run these these files on PXIe-6556 Digital Waveform Generator/Analyser which uses .hws file format. I don't know if that's possible.
  • Can I run .digipat files on PXIe-6556?
  • Can I convert .digipat files to .hws format?

Solution

  • Due to the increased complexity of a digital pattern file (.digipat) compared to waveform files, it is not possible to run it on PXIe-6556 Digital Waveform Generator.
  • There is no tool to convert digital pattern to waveform format (.hws)
  • Such operation is theoretically possible to be completed manually, however, it is very complex in practice and not supported by National Instruments.

Additional Information

  • The opposite operation - convert from .hws to .digipat - is possible.
  • It is also possible to convert other digital vector formats such as STIL or WGL to .hws format. NI has partnered with Test System Strategies Inc. (TSSI) to add support for vector file conversions in the TD-Scan for NI tool that is optimised to run on the PXIe-6555/6. Since 2014 the TD-Scan tool for NI can convert WGL and STIL vector file formats to .hws for use with the NI-HSDIO driver.
