Offline Installation of NI Linux Device Drivers

Updated May 13, 2026

Environment

Driver

  • NI Linux Device Drivers

Operating System

  • Linux

In some environments, systems are not permitted to connect to the internet due to company security or privacy policies. For such offline systems, NI provides Python scripts that allow you to clone or create custom software repositories for offline use. These scripts support both RPM-based and Debian-based Linux distributions that are compatible with NI drivers. Be sure to download the appropriate script for your Linux distribution.

To create the offline installation media, you will need a separate system that:

  • Runs the same Linux distribution as the target offline system
  • Has internet access to retrieve packages from NI repositories

Additionally, root privileges are required, and certain prerequisite software must be installed to ensure the scripts execute correctly.

The articles below provide guidance on how to use specific Python scripts to build offline repositories, enabling the installation of software from the NI Linux Device Drivers repository available on ni.com onto a disconnected machine.

Depending on the Linux distribution you are using, refer to the corresponding article:
