Accessing VIs Deployed on a cRIO Without the Project Files

Issue Details

I have a cRIO controller with some software deployed on it.  I no longer have access to the original project files on the host computer and needing to make edits to the VIs.  Can I access or download the VIs currently deployed to the cRIO?

Solution

VIs that are deployed onto a cRIO either to the real-time system or to the FPGA have been compiled and are only stored in the compiled state on the cRIO.  Therefore, they are not able to be edited and the VIs used to make these programs can not be retrieved from the cRIO.  In order to get the VIs and make changes, you will need to have the original project files and accompanying VIs.

Additional Information

If you do not want to make changes to the software installed on a cRIO but would instead like to duplicate the software to another cRIO device, you can use the Replication and Deployment (RAD) Utility to make an image of the software on the cRIO so that you can deploy this image to another device.
