Issue Details

I want to connect a USB-6008 Multifunction I/O DAQ device into my NI PXI controller. Is it possible to control a USB card in such a described connection?

Solution

You can connect and use your USB card with a PXI Controller, if your PXI Controller runs Windows Operating System (OS). With that stated, you will need the following components to successfully use your card:
  1. Application Development Environment (LabVIEW or preferred).
  2. NI-DAQmx driver.

In this setup - PXI Controller with Windows OS, we can treat controller just as a personal computer (PC). As long, as you have correct drivers installed on the hard drive of the controller, you can connect any USB device.

Additional Information

PXI controllers running Real-Time Operating System in most of the cases don't support NI USB DAQ devices. You can find complete list of DAQ devices supported on different targets on NI-DAQmx and NI-DAQ Driver Support: Portable Devices.
