Issue Details

I am configuring a channel to measure force data from a load cell in FlexLogger. I need to configure scaling on my raw data, but I am not sure what value to use as the Slope input for my linear scale. Where can I find this information?

Solution

Refer to the specifications or datasheet for your load cell. Most datasheets for load cells will have a specification for the sensor's Sensitivity or Output that will be given in units of millivolts per volt (mV/V). To find the slope that you would use when configuring the scaling for your channel, take the full measurement range for the load cell and divide by the sensitivity value.

For example, if my sensor is rated to measure up to 1000 N and its output (sensitivity) spec is 3 mV/V:

Slope = (1000N)/(3 mV/V) = 333 N/(mV/V).

I would enter this value into the Slope input of my channel's scaling configuration.

Additional Information

The names of specifications may vary between sensor manufacturers. If you are unable to find the correct sensitivity or output specification for your sensor, contact the manufacturer for guidance.
