Issue Details

  • I am trying to analyze a LabVIEW project to understand what the code is doing.
  • I inherited a LabVIEW project and need tips on how to analyze it.

The following tools are helpful for analyzing LabVIEW code:
  • Context Help provides information about objects in a LabVIEW project when you hover over the object with your mouse. You can open the context help window by selecting
    Help»Show Context Help.
  • Double clicking on icons on the Front Panel will highlight the object on the block diagram. This allows you to find user control elements in the Block Diagram more easily.
  • Double clicking on a SubVI will open that VI in a new window to be inspected. The SubVI should also have a high-level description that is accessible through context help.
  • LabVIEW also offers debugging tools, such as highlight execution and probes, when running a VI.
