LabWindows™/CVI™ Crashes Because Installation Is Missing Visainfo.ini

Issue Details

When I attempt to launch the LabWindows™/CVI™ environment after installation, I receive the following error message:

Loading of VISA type and constant information from visainfo.ini failed. File not found.


and the environment promptly crashes.  How can I prevent this from happening?

Solution

First, attempt a repair of your LabWindows™/CVI™ installation by choosing Control Panel»Add or Remove Programs»National Instruments Software and opting to repair the development system that you have installed.

If this is unsuccessful, download the attached visainfo.ini file.  Close the environment and place the file in the <CVI>\bin folder on your hard drive.  Relaunch LabWindows™/CVI™ and the environment should start normally.

 

 

Additional Information

If LabWindows™/CVI™ is installed in C:\Program Files\LabWindows\CVI, the full path would be C:\Program Files\LabWindows\CVI\bin.
