LabVIEW Tells Me to Activate Uninstalled Products

  • LabVIEW Report Generation Toolkit
  • LabVIEW
  • LabVIEW Application Builder Module

Issue Details

After the evaluating period of a National Instruments Software Product, every time I open LabVIEW it asks me to activate unlicensed products, even after uninstalling the software.
How can I stop LabVIEW from giving this message?

Solution

This may be happening because after uninstallation a license file may remain for the respective product in directory C:\ProgramData\National Instruments\License Manager\Licenses.
Deleting the corresponding license file will prevent LabVIEW from giving the activation prompt in the future.

For example, if you get the activation prompts for LabVIEW Report Generation Toolkit and LabVIEW Database Connectivity Toolkit despite having unistalled them after the evaluation period. Deleting the files starting with "LabVIEWReportGenTK_PKG" and "LabVIEW_DatabaseTK_PKG" (the file extension is ".lc") will fix it.

Additional Information

The folder C:\ProgramData\ may not be visible on your PC, due to the reason that it is by default a hidden folder. You have to change the settings in the Windows Explorer to make hidden folders visible, which is described in the Microsoft article Show hidden files.
