Issue Details

  • I cannot read a digital signal with my myDAQ.
  • Can I plot a digital input signal to my myDAQ?

Solution

Reading a digital signal acquired by a myDAQ device can be done via the NI-ELVISmx Digital Reader instrument (DigIn).
  1. Launch the NI-ELVISmx Instrument Launcher. It will appear as one of the two images below, depending on the version of NI-ELVISmx installed on your computer.

  1. Open the Digital Reader (DigIn) instrument.

  1. Ensure the Digital Reader in configured to read from your myDAQ device on the proper lines. When you Run the instrument, the boolean indicators at the top of the panel will display the incoming digital signal(s).
There is not currently a way to plot digital signals acquired by a myDAQ device. Newer versions of NI-ELVISmx have a Digital Waveform Viewer instrument, but this only supports ELVIS II/II+ data acquisition devices.

Additional Information

Analog signals acquired by a myDAQ can be plotted using the NI-ELVISmx Oscilloscope instrument.
