Error -307853 When Deploying VeriStand™ Project to Real-Time Target

Issue Details

When attempting to deploy a VeriStand project to a LabVIEW Real-Time target, deployment fails and I receive the following error:

Error -307853 occurred at Project Window.lvlib:Project Window.vi >> Project Window.lvlib:Command Loop.vi >> NI_VS Workspace ExecutionAPI.lvlib:NI VeriStand - Connect to System.vi

Possible reason(s):
NI VeriStand: The VeriStand Gateway was unable to establish a connection with the target. Confirm that the target is running and that the VeriStand Engine successfully has started. If you still cannot connect to the target, use MAX to reinstall the NI VeriStand Run-Time Engine to the target.

Solution

This error can occur when the NI VeriStand Engine is not installed on the Real-Time target, or when the installation has become corrupted or undeployed. To install the NI VeriStand Run-Time Engine, you can follow the steps of the resources listed below, according to the target type and OS:

• Getting Started with CompactRIO Hardware and LabVIEW 
• Adding or Removing Software on a Phar Lap Real-Time (RT) PXI Controller
• Installing Software on NI Linux Real-Time PXI Controllers

After verifying that the VeriStand Engine is installed, restart the engine using one of the following methods:

• Restart the VeriStand Engine from VeriStand 2019 R3 or later.
  1. Select Tool Launcher>>Manage Targets.

   3. Wait for the process to complete.

Note: Error 363504 may occur when restarting the VeriStand engine on a password-protected RT Target. Refer to Bug 1505083 for additional information.

• Use Reset VeriStand as Startup Workspace Tool [EXTERNAL LINK].
  • This tool is provided as-is and is not supported or maintained by NI.
  • Verify that Disable RT Startup App is not enabled in NI MAX before using the tool, as shown below. Enabling this setting will make the controller undeploy the VeriStand Engine during reboot, including the one that takes place during installation.

• Reinstall VeriStand Engine from NI Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX).
• For NI Linux Real-Time targets that use Base Images:
  1. Access the Linux shell on the target.
  2. Run opkg install ni-veristand-engine --force-reinstall to reinstall VeriStand Engine without using NI MAX. If your Linux RT target does not have internet access and requires offline installation package, please refer to Offline Installation of OPKG Packages on Linux Real-Time Devices.
  3. Reboot the controller.

Additional Information

NI VeriStand.rtexe can become undeployed if a connection or deployment is initiated from the LabVIEW Development Environment while the VeriStand Engine is running.

Verify that the installed VeriStand Engine version is compatible with the Base System Image on the target. Refer to VeriStand and NI Linux Real-Time Base System Image Compatibility before installing or upgrading software on NI Linux Real-Time controllers.
