Issue Details

I want to acquire temperature data with a C-Series Module from a PT500 RTD. I have not been able to find a temperature module that would work for this type of RTD. For example, in the datasheet for the the NI 9219 I see only listed the PT100 RTD and PT1000RTD. How can I acquire data from my RTD?

Solution

You can use any C-Series temperature input module as long as the resistance range you will be working in is covered by the resistance range that the module supports. For example, the 9219 has a resistance range from 505 Ohms to 5050 Ohms, so if you will be working with your RTD at temperatures that will cause it to have a resistance in that range, you can use the 9219.

In order to do the acquisition, you would need to create a resistance task and then convert the resistance measurement into a temperature measument, using the Callendar-Van Dusen equation with the coefficients of your RTD.
