How Can I Build an Executable for an Ethernet RIO?

Issue Details

I am using an Ethernet RIO like the NI 9149 and i want to build a Real-Time executable. When i create the target I cannot find the "Build Specifications" section under the RIO as shown in the picture below. 


 

Solution

The Ethernet RIOs are expansion chassis. Which are mainly used to extend the number of modules used with another Real-Time controller. They don't have the option for creating a Real-Time VIs and therefore they don't have the option to create a Real-Time executable. If you would to be able to create a Real-Time Executable you need a cRIO controller.
