Issue Details

I am trying to run the Agilent 415X Series Dual Source Sweep Display VI from the Agilent 415X Series Driver, and each time I get NI-VISA Error  -1073807346: The given session or object reference is invalid. How do I fix this?

Solution

In order for the VI to run, you must create and wire an input to the Initialize VI (found in the block diagram) which will specify which instrument connected to the computer you wish to operate with the Dual Source Sweep Display VI.
  1. Navigate to the Initialize VI on the left side of the block diagram of the Dual Source Sweep Display VI, and hover over the input on the upper left corner of the VI icon. You should see a label identifying this input as VISA resource name.
  1. Right click on the input and select Create > Constant.
  1. Use the drop-down created to select which instrument connected to your computer you'd like to control.

Additional Information

In order to acquire accurate data, you may also have to alter some of the hard-coded values (for compliance, etc.) in the black diagram to match the specifications for your particular device.
