  • I'm trying to communicate with a Bluetooth device on a Mac OS X machine but the device is not showing up in the NI-VISA Configuration Utility. How can I make it appear?

Solution

If you need to communicate with a Bluetooth serial port using NI-VISA, you can manually add your device as a serial port in the NI-VISA Configuration utility.
You can do this by selecting Add Static from the utility. In the dialog that appears, select Serial and fill in the appropriate fields to define your serial port.

Additional Information

In NI-VISA 15.0 and later, Bluetooth serial ports are automatically filtered out of the NI-VISA Configuration utility and calls to the VISA Find Resource VI.
