Issue Details

We have PXIe Astronics Ballard MIL-STD-1553, but we need to setup this hardware in a new PXI System.
What software do I need to install to program it in LabVIEW? Is there any getting started manual?

Solution

These steps show you how to set up Astronics Ballard cards on a Windows PXI system. If you have a Phar Lap ETS real-time PXI system, refer to Install Software for Astronics Ballard Cards on Phar lap ETS RT Target .
  1. Download the driver from the Astronics Ballard Avionics Driver download page.
  2. Extract the files. There is a 32 and 64-bit installer. Run the installer that matches the operating system bitness.
  3. Follow the installer prompts.
  4. Click Install to begin the installation.
  5. After installation is complete, turn off the PXI system.
  6. Install the Ballard card in the PXI(e) chassis. Refer to the user manual for details.
  7. Power on the PXI system.
  8. Confirm the board shows up in the BTITST32 application and Windows Device Manager. The card is ready to be used. Refer to the user manual for operation instructions.

Note: The card and Ballard driver will not show up in NI MAX.
