Issue Details

I have a GPIB-ENET/100 or GPIB-ENET/1000 device and am trying to set up the Ethernet configuration. What do I need to do?

The GPIB-ENET devices can be configured through the following steps:
  1. Obtain the correct cable for your device.  The GPIB-ENET/100 requires a crossover cable.  The GPIB-ENET/1000 can use either a standard or crossover cable.
  2. Once you have the correct cable, open Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX)
  3. Right click Devices and Interfaces and select Create New...
  1. In the window that appears, scroll down and select GPIB-ENET/100 or GPIB-ENET/1000 and then select Finish in the bottom right corner of this window.
  1. Follow the on-screen instructions.  Click Next after reading each of the following windows.
  1. Wait until you come across the window that asks you to specify a GPIB-ENET/100 or GPIB-ENT/1000 device.  Browse the local subnet unless you already know the device's IP address.  Finally, click Next and then select your device to continue.
  1. Select your device and then click Next.  If you cannot see your device, click here  for troubleshooting steps.
  1. Click Next once the device is verified.
  1. Make sure the yes radio button is selected and then click Next to confirm the Configuration Summary.
  1. Choose whether to add another device.
  1. Click Finish.
  1. The device will now appear under Devices and Interfaces in MAX.

Additional Information

By default, the GPIB-ENET/100 attempts its network configuration through DHCP. A steady yellow PWR/RDY LED indicates that the device has passed its self-tests, has acquired an IP address, and is ready to operate.

If you do not have DHCP or wish to set a static IP address, follow these instructions:
  1. In MAX, right-click on the appropriate GPIB-ENET/100 or GPIB-ENET/1000 item and select Device Configuration.
  2. In the NI Ethernet Device Configuration Window, click on the device that you want to modify.
  3. Select Properties to change the network settings of this device.
