Issue Details

I am attempting to change the EtherCAT Master ID to a custom number as opposed to the default. I am reading the Configuring the Ethernet Adapter - EtherCAT Help, and it mentions that under the target's Network Settings in NI MAX, I should be able to set the EtherCAT Master ID. However, I do not see this field in NI MAX. Why is this happening and can I change my EtherCAT Master ID?

Solution

This issue only manifests itself with VxWorks and Phar Lap ETS EtherCAT masters. To determine which operating system your National Instruments master is running, please see Real-Time Controllers and Real-Time Operating System Compatibility. To resolve this issue, install NI Web-based Configuration and Monitoring to the target as shown in the figure below.
After this has been installed, the EtherCAT Master ID option will appear and you will be able to set your EtherCAT Master ID.
