Issue Details

I have a PXI(e) chassis, such as the PXIe-1073, 1078 or 1085. When it is powered on, I see that the power switch/power LED is flashing or solid red. What does this mean and what are the areas should I check?

Solution

The most accurate description of LED behavior on a PXI chassis can be found in its corresponding manual but some troubleshooting steps that you should follow are:
  • A red blinking light will generally indicate that the power supply to the chassis is out of specification.  Please check the AC Input section in your PXI chassis manual and make sure your power supply meets those specifications.
  • Remove all the modules and try them one at a time, the LED blinking can be related to a module that is failing.
  • A solid red light generally indicates the power supply has failed.  Try to reconnect your power supply or use alternative power cables and power outlets.
