Issue Details

When I try to log in into the cRIO, the following message is shown:

NI-cRIO-90XX-XXXXXXXX (X.X.X.X): The selected target does not support this function.

It then shows a different Log In window but it also fails to log into the cRIO. It shows the following error message:

Could not connect to the log-in service. Make sure the target is turned on, connected to the network and not in safe mode.

What can I do?

Solution

There are different things you can try:
  • Run NI Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) as administrator and try to log-in again.
  • Make sure your firewall is properly configured.
  • Ensure you have a compatible version between the CompactRIO driver and your cRIO controller.
  • Try deleting the device in MAX and re-adding it.
  • Try using the Remote System Discovery tool in MAX.
  • Try from a different computer/make sure it is on the same subnet.
  • Try checking the "Disable RT Startup App" box in System Settings of the cRIO.
  • Try to restore the controller in MAX.
  • Try to format the controller from the command line.

Additional Information

Security policies installed on the OS of the host computer sometimes could prevent it from logging into the cRIO controller.
