NI Package Manager Install Error "Cannot Open File"

Issue Details

When I try to install or update NI Package Manager, I get an error message, then the installation stops. The error message reads: 
Cannot open file: \\?\C:\ProgramData\National Instruments\NI Package Manager\eulas\eula-ni-standard.nipkg (2)
How do I get rid of this error message and install NI Package Manager?

Solution

  1. If you have a version of NI Package Manager installed, uninstall it using the "Add or Remove Programs" menu.
  2. Navigate to C:\ProgramData\National Instruments\NI Package Manager\eulas in Windows Explorer.
  3. Copy all files in that directory to another directory, then delete the original files.
  4. Run the installer again.
  5. On success, you may delete the copies of the files.
