Internal Software Error 7 When Compiling FPGA Code

Issue Details

When compiling my FPGA program I am getting the following error:

LabVIEW FPGA: An internal software error in LabVIEW FPGA Module has occurred.
Error 7 occurred at Read from Text File in
 

This happens regardless if I do a local compilation or use the Cloud Compilation Service. Why is this occurring and how do I get rid of these error messages?

Solution

The FPGA compilation can be affected by a previous compilation attempt that became corrupt. To solve this issue we need to clear the corrupt files from the computer.
  1. ​Navigate to C:\NIFPGA
  2. Open the compilation and jobs folders
  3. ​In each folder, you need to remove the folders associated with the corrupt FPGA compilation attempt.
    • ​​The corrupt folder may share the same name as the VI you are trying to compile.
  4. ​Reattempt the compilation

Additional Information

If this error shows up at the first attempt to compile the FPGA, then the solution will be to remove and install LabVIEW and all required packages.
