Issue Details

I want to access the system information (Model, Serial Number, Firmware Version) of my Linux RT CompactRIO using only the Console Out.

Solution

Information regarding the system of a CompactRIO are usually found in NI Measurement & Automation Explorer or programmatically using the NI System Configuration API with LabVIEW for example.

There is a command line in the Console Out of a CompactRIO that allows you to access basic system configuration using the same NI System Configuration API.

By typing the following command: lsni -v, the device will scan for available System Configuration API resources and display information such as adapters, model name and serial number:

For more information regarding the software, operating system and name of the device, you can use a more generic Linux command line that displays these information in detail. The command in this case would be uname -a:

Additional Information

You can do more with each of these commands, just type in command -help to see all the available options for each utility.
