Issue Details

  • I have a PCIe-GPIB card that works for multiple instruments but some of my instruments do not work.
  • I can see and control most of my instruments using a PCIe-GPIB card, but others don't show up.

  1. Disconnect other instruments on the bus to see if the behavior persists.
  2. Verify the command you sent is valid for that instrument. Most instruments do not respond to invalid commands at all. See your instrument's user manual or contact its manufacturer for the list of valid commands. Many instruments will respond to *IDN? or ID, but not all.
  3. Make sure NI 488.2 Drivers are up to date.
  4. If available, move the PCIe-GPIB card to another PCIe bus on your motherboard.
Note: PCIe-GPIB cards are not hot-swappable, ensure power is off before removing the card from its bus.
