Report Generation Toolkit Gives Me an Error When Running as a Service

Issue Details

I created a standalone executable in LabVIEW that uses the Report Generation Toolkit to create automated reports in Excel.  Whenever I use Grovf to turn the EXE file into a Windows Service, the service won't create the report as expected and it will generate an unknown system error.  The application works fine and it does not return any errors, it's just the service the one that fails.  How do I fix this?

Solution

The Grovf Service Application Manager (SAM) for LabVIEW is a third-party tool that allows you to turn standalone EXE files into Windows Services.  Bear in mind that not all applications are intended to run as Windows services for security reasons. The Report Generation Toolkit is one of them.

Bear in mind, that if you created an EXE file from a LabVIEW application that uses Report Generation Toolkit, you won't be able to generate reports because this toolkit was not designed to work as a Windows Service.  Instead, try to use filetypes like CSV or TDMS to generate your automated reports as this options work better as a Windows Service.
