Solution
Important: Installing the TDM Excel Add-In does not allow Microsoft Excel to open .tdms files directly through Excel's standard File → Open workflow.
The add-in works by importing TDMS data into a new Excel workbook. To view TDMS data in Excel:
- Right-click the
.tdms file and select Open with >> niskyline_exceladdinimporter
- Open Excel and use Add-ins >> TDM Importer: Import a TDM(S) File. The importer will create a new workbook containing the data from the selected TDMS file.
If you are unable to import the TDMS file using either of the methods above, follow the troubleshooting steps below:
- Check if the TDM icons are present within the Add-ins tab in Excel. The icons look like the following:
- If you don't see these icons, you must first install and activate this add-in so that you can use them. To activate a TDM Excel Add-in:
1. Click File tab, click Options, and then click the Add-ins category.
2. In the Manage box, select COM Add-ins from the dropdown menu, and then click Go. The Add-ins dialog box appears.
3. In the Add-ins available box, select the check box next to the TDM add-in and then click OK.
4. If you can't find the TDM add-in in the
Add-ins box, you may need to
install it. 3. If you see these icons and still cannot read TDMS files correctly, re-install the TDM Excel Add-in.
