Access Academic Volume License Software for Mac and Linux Users

Updated Apr 9, 2024

Reported In

Software

  • LabVIEW
  • Academic Site License

Operating System

  • Mac OS X
  • Linux

Issue Details

  • I have an Academic Volume License and my students use Linux® or Mac operating systems. How can I access macOS and Linux versions of the NI software included in my agreement?
  • How do I activate the software from my Academic Volume License (AVL) for Mac and Linux OS?

Note: LabVIEW 2023 Q3 is the final release of LabVIEW for macOS. Starting with releases in 2024, LabVIEW is available on Windows and Linux OSes.

Solution

  • If you are the software administrator, you need to register your serial number to your ni.com account. Once you have registered it, go to the specific product download page to access the Linux/Mac installer. This installer may be distributed among the students who have requested this software for the respective operating systems.
  • If you are a student, please contact your software administrator and request this installer.

Additional Information

As NI is moving away from physical media, software administrators can now register their license's serial number with their ni.com account and download relevant software from NI's website. For macOS/Linux users, this software can then be distributed by the software administrator.

It is possible to get the media from the school's software group. In the past, NI would ship the media along with the AVL software for older versions of Mac OS
