Issue Details

Can I use the NI-Industrial Communications for EtherNet/IP LabVIEW driver to act as an Implicit Scanner for my PLC communication?

Solution

NI-Industrial Communications for EtherNet/IP driver has Class 1 I/O Adapter (Slave) support for implicit messaging. The driver does not have native functionality to be an EtherNet/IP I/O Scanner (Master) for implicit messaging. Therefore, LabVIEW and any NI Real-Time targets using the Ethernet/IP driver can only run as implicit slaves. It is possible to act as both master and slave if using explicit messaging

Additional Information

NI-Industrial Communications for EtherNet/IP supports Explicit Server, Explicit Client and Implicit Adapter. The LabVIEW driver includes both an explicit messaging API and an implicit I/O data API.
