Issue Details

How would I go about breaking the lossless nature of networks streams. If the writer is writing faster than the reader end is reading I only care about the most recent single data point.

Solution

It is possible to implement the "Flush Stream" network stream VI to make the network stream act as though it were no longer lossless.
  1. Check the number of elements written verses the number of elements read.
  2. If it is the number written is over a certain threshold, as determined by the user, it could trigger a case structure using the aforementioned VI to flush either a portion or the entire stream prior to reading.
