  • What is the accuracy of the clock used on the FPGA of my NI CompactRIO (cRIO)?
  • How to know the accuracy of the accuracy of the FPGA base clock of my CompactRIO?

Solution

The clock accuracy of the CompactRIO FPGA  base clock can be found with the CompactRIO added to a LabVIEW project, right click on the FPGA base clock and select Properties. The accuracy and peak period jitter will be shown under the General category.

Additional Information

Most of the NI CompactRIO's contains an internal real-time clock that maintains system time when the cRIO is powered off. The system clock of the cRIO is synchronized with the internal real-time clock at startup. Do not get confused with the internal real-time clock and FPGA base clock specifications. You can set the real-time clock using the BIOS setup utility or MAX, or you can set the clock programmatically using LabVIEW.
