Issue Details

Intermittently, clients cannot obtain a license from the NI Volume License Manager (VLM) license server.  VLM shows the licenses are active and the service is running.  If I stop and then start the license service from the license manager application the clients can then obtain a license.

Windows Event Viewer shows the nilm.exe file or process crashing with .NET Runtime Errors 1000 or 1026:

Solution

  1. Look for a corrupt dll using the properties in he Windows Events Viewer
  2. Rename the corrupted dll as following:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\Shared\License Manager\Bin\xerces-depdom_2_6.dll to xerces-depdom_2_6old.dll
