Error -2147220314 With Replication and Deployment Utility

Issue Details

I am using the Replication and Deployment (RAD) utility to retrieve an application image from a RIO. When I click 'Retrieve', I get Error -2147220314: The operation failed because of insufficient permissions. 
 
How can I resolve this error?

Solution

This error could be caused by a variety of issues but a possible fix to the problem is to try saving the image to a different folder on your development machine using the RAD Utility.

If that doesn't work you can try the following to narrow down the source of the issue.
  • Log into the RIO as an admin (through NI MAX)
  • If your RIO has a password, try setting it to blank
  • Disable any startup applications on the RIO
  • Verify that the IP address in MAX matches that in RAD Utility
  • Format the device
  • Install the newest NI CompactRIO Drivers
  • Run the RAD Utility as an administrator
  • Try writing disc images to a different folder
  • Try taking the computer offline to avoid network securities
  • Try a different computer
  • Run the RAD Utility Source Code
  • Use the Sys Config API to obtain an image (‘Initialize Session’ and ‘Create System Image (Folder)’)
  • Try out another device of the same model
    • If successful, compare firmware versions
  • Perform highlight execution/probing on RAD Utility source code to get a better idea of where exactly an error or unexpected behavior is happening
  • Upgrade the firmware and OS version to the latest version 
  • Reinstall the System Configuration API, first by uninstalling and then installing from ni.com .
