Issue Details

I am trying to synchronize a PCIe-1427 frame grabber with NI DAQ devices. However, the frame grabber is not listed as a device to add to the RTSI cable in NI MAX. How do I get around this?

Solution

Unlike the NI DAQ devices that use the NI-DAQmx driver, the frame grabber uses the NI-IMAQ driver, which has a different RTSI configuration setup. In order to synchronize the start of the frame grabber's acquisition at a given frame rate, all you need to do is use the IMAQ Trigger Drive VI or the IMAQ Configure Trigger VI and set the Trigger Type to RTSI:

Additional Information

For the PCIe-1427, if you want to synchronize frame-by-frame capture, you will need to use an external line instead of the RTSI line. To set this up, you can go to the Camera Attributes tab for your camera in NI MAX. Under Camera Control Lines Source, you can choose the signal to route to the Camera Control lines.
