LabVIEW Student License Activation Error

Issue Details

  • I am trying to activate my NI Software which I have access to via my student account. I know I have access to the specific software version as I can generate activation codes for these online however when I try to activate them, either via my serial or via the activation codes I get a red activation error. The license was acquired from the NI LabVIEW for Students page. Why can't I activate my products?
  • I am trying to activate my NI Software but the activate software button is greyed-out. When I launch my programs, all the menus are greyed-out and are unselectable. Why can I not access my software with my serial number or license code?

Solution

NI Software for students is subscription based so it is possible that the date of your subscription has passed hence you will not able to activate the software. The Student Edition license can be used only for 6 months.

If you are a student of an University covered by an active Academic Site License, you should get in contact with your IT Help Desk or Service Desk and ask them for the Student Install serial number (activation code) and use this to activate NI software.
 

Additional Information

The Serial Number is valid from the 1st of the month, when it was requested, until the 2nd of the 7th month. 

For example:
The license was required on the 17th of September in 2017.

The update date:         01-SEP-2017    
The expiration date:    01-MAR-2018

A new Serial Number has to be requested after every 6 months.

Even though the end date of your subscription may have passed, you will still be able to generate activation codes online. However, these will not work. Instead you should get hold of an active serial for your products and use that for activation purposes.
