Issue Details

When I attempt to acquire from my FireWire camera, I get error 0xBFF68016 with message:

"Insufficient resources available for the required video mode"

The camera is recognized and everything seems installed correctly. How can I resolve this issue?

Solution

Here are a couple of things you can try:
  • Reduce the acquisition rate of the camera so that less bandwidth is used.
  • Use a PCI FireWire card.

Additional Information

This issue often occurs when the camera needs to transmit more data over the FireWire connection than the connection can handle. Reducing the framerate reduces the amount of data transferred.

This can also happen due to problems with built-in FireWire ports and buses on some motherboards. Even though everything installs correctly, you'll see these errors. One affected motherboard is the ASUS P5AD2 premium motherboard.
