I have my DAQ device hooked up to an SCXI chassis. Can I read position from an encoder with the setup?

Solution

Yes you can, but you will need an SCXI module, like the SCXI-1180, to help access your PFI lines. You can then hook up the encoder the same why you normally would.

For example, if you are using something like the NI 6361 with the SCXI-1180. You would then need to know the pinouts of the SCXI-1180 and the X Series signal connections for counters. Once we know this than we know how make connections for the counters. The pinouts for counter 0, 1, and 2 would follow this:
