Can I Use a 120V Stepper Motor Controller With Mains Supply Below or Above 120V?

Issue Details

I have a stepper motor controller (P70360) connected to a stepper motor. The power connector offers a 230 V and a 120 V pin. If I connect to the 120 V pin, will the P70360 stepper motor controller  work with mains supply that is 100V? Or Above 120V?

Solution

The stepper motor controller configured in the 120V pin should still work with 100V. However, as there is an under-voltage, there is a risk of under-performance from the stepper motor controller. Most electrical appliances can withstand a 10-20% difference. However, you should NOT use it for mains supply over 120V as overvoltage is more dangerous.
